Tracked machines, set lines, clean corners

We cut the line, set the grade, Cut

AmmoCat Construction LLC is a tracked earthworks crew working out of its Mona yard at 102 N Hillside Dr, Mona - 84645-3339, United States (US). We bring our own trenchers, grading blades and track machines to every job and leave the corners flagged, the spoil clean and the grade true.

Utilities, drive approaches, building pads and haul roads all start the same way: a string line, a blade at angle and a crew that reads the stakes before the bucket moves. See the full service list

The pass registry

Six passes we run on nearly every yard

Each pass is priced on its own so you can see where the machine hours go. We walk the site first, mark the utilities and the easements, and then quote the passes that your lot actually needs rather than a flat package.

Site Trenching Runs

Water, power, gas and drain runs cut to depth with a tracked trencher and a laser on the stick. We keep the spoil to one side, leaving the working side clear for the pipe crew.

Backfill and compaction can follow the same visit, so the trench does not sit open overnight. All runs are logged against the survey stakes. Service detail

Grading and Leveling

Finish grading for building pads, aprons and yard surfaces using a blade at angle and a track machine working off a grade reference that never drifts.

We tolerance test with a level before we hand off, and we re-cut the edges so the pad sheds water away from the structure. Service detail

Track Road Building

Haul roads and temporary access tracks built from native material with crowned surfaces and shallow side ditches that drain without washing out in spring.

Turnouts and passing bays are cut in at the corners so loaded machines never need to reverse blind. Service detail

Cut and Fill Balancing

We model the site cut and fill before a machine moves, then balance the dirt on site so you are not paying for trucks that you do not need.

Surplus material is stockpiled where it can be reused later, and we record the volumes for your records. Service detail

Trench Backfill Programs

Layered backfill with lifts compacted to the spec for each run, tracked in and moisture-checked on site so the surface stays firm for the next trade.

We return after settlement checks and re-grade the line so the trench disappears into the yard. Service detail

Site Prep Estimates

A measured estimate covering machine hours, trucking, compaction and the small extras that usually arrive late. Every line is itemized and no line is hidden.

We walk the lot with you, take the depths on site and send the estimate within two working days. Service detail

Before the gate opens

Every corner gets a stake, a flag and a reading

Our yard supervisor sets the grade stakes the afternoon before the machines arrive. Each stake carries a cut or fill mark and a bright flag so the operator never has to guess. When the yard gate opens in the morning, the first pass follows the flags and the grade reference stays on the stick all day.

We flag the corners of every pad, every utility run and every haul road turn so the crew can see the whole job at a glance. Site prep estimates include the stake count, so you know exactly how much layout work is priced into the job. Review the passes we run

Why the tracked fleet matters

Machines chosen for line work, not for show

Track machines keep the soil working

A steel track spreads weight so the machine keeps working when the ground turns soft in spring. That matters on a site trenching run that crosses a lawn, a field entrance or a driveway under repair, because the surface underneath stays intact enough to be restored. Wheeled machines often stall or mark the ground in the same conditions, and the repair bill becomes part of the project. Our tracked machines carry a small footprint, which also lets us work close to fences and foundations without a long approach.

The blade sets the standard for everything after

Grading and leveling is where a site begins to look finished, and the grading blade decides how much work the paving, landscape and drainage trades still have to do. A blade that is set correctly cuts clean at the shoulder, rolls the material instead of dragging it and leaves a surface that drains. We re-check the reference after every pass because a small error at the pad edge becomes a large problem at the curb.

Cut and fill balancing protects the budget

Every truck that leaves a site costs money and every yard of material brought in costs more. Cut and fill balancing looks for a shape that keeps the dirt on the lot, which reduces haul traffic, road wear and noise for the neighborhood. On a tight lot the balance can be the difference between a pad that fits the plan and one that needs an imported base. We present the balance with the site prep estimate so the client can see the trade off before a machine moves.

Backfill programs keep the surface usable

Trench backfill programs are the quiet part of the job. A trench that is backfilled in loose lifts will settle and leave a dip that catches water and cracks the surface above it. We place and compact in lifts that match the specification, then finish the surface and return to check it. Track road building and trenching crews work from the same program, so the haul route across a trench is safe the same day that the trench is closed.

AmmoCat Construction LLC opens its spring cut calendar for drive approaches, utility runs and building pads across the Mona valley.

How a tracked earthworks day actually runs

Morning: stake reading and utility checks

The crew walks the line before any machine turns over. We read the grade stakes, check the utility locates, and set the first cut line where the spoil can be pushed clear of the working side. If a stake does not match the plan, we stop and call before we dig. That single habit prevents most of the expensive mistakes on a trenching job, and it is why we ask to see the site drawings the week before we start.

Midday: trenching, then grading behind the run

The tracked trencher cuts the run to depth while the blade works the pad behind it. Two machines in sequence keep the job moving without crowd, and the spoil stays in a line that the loader can recover. Our site trenching runs and grading and leveling passes are scheduled together when the layout allows, because the pad needs the spoil gone before the finish pass. Track road building work is usually staged at the end of the day when the haul traffic is light.

Afternoon: backfill, compaction and the handoff

Backfill lifts are placed and compacted in the same shift where the spec allows. We photo the depths, record the lift counts, and leave the corners flagged for the next trade. Cut and fill balancing is reviewed at the end of each day so the stockpile volumes stay honest. Site prep estimates for the next site are usually written the same evening while the numbers are fresh.
